What Is Precision Investment Casting?
Precision investment casting, also known as lost-wax casting, is a manufacturing process in which a wax pattern is first produced and then coated with multiple layers of ceramic slurry to form a robust mold shell. Once the ceramic has cured, the wax is melted out—leaving a hollow cavity with exceptional dimensional fidelity. Molten metal is then poured into the ceramic shell, and after cooling and shell removal, the final component is revealed.
